The founder of VMR, Mr. VP Pappu, started it in 1965 as a traditional type of rice mill in a small village known as Yordhanapuram in Kerala, South India. Since his son, Mr. Joy Valookkaran Pappu, joined him, the rice mill has undergone many changes, including the import of sophisticated machinery. Today, Valookkaran Modern Rice Mill is a legendary entity in the rice manufacturing industry in India.
